IECEP Neon Run

My sister wanted me to register for the IECEP Neon Run so she could get the shirt and I said why don't we just both register and run? Registration costs PHP220 which includes a shirt and a baller.

The registration says to be there at 5:00am but I think we got a little too excited and arrived at 4:30am. XD Too bad there's no early bird award. XD
Heroes' Park at 4:30am

The registration started promptly at 5am while the actual race began a little over 6am.

Race Route: From Natividad Hall (Engineering Building) of Bulacan State University (BulSU) to Cabana's Cinema and back.
According to Google, one way is around 3km so it's actually 6km back and forth T_T

Halfway Marker

There are also water stations setup along the race route.

FINISH LINE!!!
I probably walked halfway (okay more than halfway) but hey I tried and got to the finish line so hooray! :)

After the race, we indulged ourselves with the "healthy rice" it's a cup of fried rice with bacon and carrot bits which only costs PHP15!!! Where else can you find bacon rice that cheap?! And it tastes good too.

After the race, there was a raffle using your registered number. My sister lost hers and Puregold was more than happy to replace it XD

It's been a while since I've been to my Alma Mater and it feels good to be back.

My sister and I before the race.

The Chocolate Kiss Cafe

We went out for dinner to escape the stress from work (temporarily). Our friend recommended The Chocolate Kiss Cafe located at 2F Ang Bahay ng Alumni, Magsaysay Street, UP Diliman Campus.

Their Menu at a glance

MENU

It's actually quite pricey but very worth it.

Salisbury Steak PHP215

Kalbi Chim PHP250

Chicken Kiev PHP225
This was what I ordered. It's like chicken cordon bleu, very good and tasty.

Hickory Smoked Spareribs PHP230
My friend says he still prefers Casa Verde's but it's good nonetheless.

Dessert Menu

This place is actually known for their desserts. So we tried their cake sampler which only costs PHP95 and contains 4 slices of different cake flavors of your choice.

From the Left: Dayap Chiffon Cake, Devil's Food Cake, Kahlua Butter Cake, Carrot Cake.
The Devil's Food Cake and Carrot Cake were too sweet for my taste.
The Kahlua was just right.
My favorite is the Dayap Chiffon Cake which was light with a tinge of sweetness.
(I can taste it in my mouth right know XD)

The place would've passed as romantic if not for the distraction at a near table where a group of students were playing Pinoy Henyo which totally ruined the peace and calm atmosphere of the place. (Don't mind the grumpy old lady XD)

There were musicians playing acoustic?/instrumental which was really nice but the music was overpowered by the noise on the next table -_-. (Totally not the restaurant's fault but still)

Anyway, this is a must try. Can't wait to have that Dayap Chiffon Cake again :)

Maginhawa Food Trip Chronicles: The Z Compound

First things first, The Z (Zone) Compound is not really located at Maginhawa but at Malingap Street which is just next to Maginhawa. It's a collection of small restaurants with different specialties found in a small compound. It's pretty much like the Ketchup Food Community in Baguio with more variety and cheaper even. Most restaurants close at midnight.

So just like at Ketchup Food Community, you can sit anywhere you want and order from any restaurant. Tonight we ordered from 3 restaurants. BBQ Zone, Stones and The Backyard.

Menu at BBQ Zone
So as the name suggests, their specialty is BBQ. XD

3pcs. BBQ Sticks with Rice PHP99

Liempo with Rice PHP99

T-Bone Steak PHP188

Menu at Stones

I think they specialize in pika pika based on their menu. XD

2pcs. Buttermilk Drummettes PHP135

Root beer Float PHP80

 4pcs. Fried Oreos PHP60

 Menu at The Backyard

 Pesto Tuyo PHP135

 Marinara PHP145

 Bacon Lettuce and Tomato PHP145

Resident cat doing her rounds. Making sure the guests are enjoying their meals.

We ended up here because we can't decide which restaurant to go to, we wanted somewhere near, something cheap and with lots of variety. The Z Compound nailed those criteria. The food was good and the servings are actually generous for the price. I hope to try the others restaurants here as well.. :)

Other Restaurants at Maginhawa:
The Iscreamist
Crazy Katsu
Friuli Trattoria
