Mystery Manila

Are you a fan of Sherlock Holmes? Detective crime solving movies and puzzles? Then you should definitely try Mystery Manila.

1 room.. 1 mystery.. 1 hour.. 1 way out.. Can you solve it?

Yeah, no I'm not gonna spoil anything. If you want to enjoy the game.. DON'T CHEAT!!!

Mystery Manila is located at Eastwood, Libis near Acropolis.

There are currently 3 themed rooms (3 mysteries to solve).
1. Justice for Jamila
2. Ticking Time Bomb
3. The Chained Chamber

Minimum of 2 (PHP550) and maximum of 5 (PHP400) can play per session per mystery.

The game lasts for 1 hour at maximum depending on how fast you can solve it.

Basically, you will be trapped inside a room and you have to solve a puzzle in order to get out.

We tried the Chained Chamber and we really enjoyed it. Nope I'm still not telling you anything.

This is us before we entered the room. :)

This is us after. Fooling around a little XD

While the other team tried Justice for Jamila

The Ticking Time Bomb looks promising as well but you'd have to go outside for this mystery which is quite troublesome specially when it's raining.

It feels good to be able to solve the mystery. But it feels even better if you get something out of it. If you solve the mystery within 30minutes you'll get a shirt. If you solve it within 40minutes you'll get a pen. If you solve it within 50minutes you'll get stickers. You'll only get one out of 3 :)

We solved ours in 37minutes so we get to have these pens :)

It was a fun filled experience overall and I hope to try the other rooms in the future as well.

Thank you Mystery Manila for the discount coupons! And thanks to our sponsors for the team building budget as well ;p

You can reserve online via their website:

UPDATE:
They have a new branch opening at Makati on August 25,2014 with 2 mysteries to solve namely Rebecca's Room and Sinister Sensorium.

Japanese food on a budget?

I love ramen! And sushi! And maki! And takoyaki! But they're quite expensive don't you think? A bowl of ramen usually cost PHP200+ to PHP500+ and PHP100+ to PHP300+ for 3-4pcs of maki. :(

So what can a bulakenyang gipit do if she craves for Japanese but don't have enough money? Simple, I look for cheaper alternatives. :)

For ramen cravings, I usually go to Tokyo Tokyo. Try their spicy chicken ramen.
The snack size only costs PHP99 and the regular size costs PHP150, add PHP50 for 3pcs gyoza and red tea.

I usually order the snack size which is just enough for me with the gyoza and red tea add ons.

I've tried the braised beef once (cause they accidentally gave me braised beef instead of spicy chicken (in my defense, they look the same and the soup taste the same)) but I don't like my ramen sweet so I like the hint of spice the spicy chicken gives :)

For maki, sushi and takoyaki cravings, I go to karate kid. I usually order sashi maki and takoyaki.
Sashi maki costs PHP79 ( 3pcs maki and 3 pcs sashimi)

They also sell them separately:
California maki 4pcs PHP45, 8pcs PHP85
Tuna sashima 6pcs PHP89

The tuna sashimi has thick slices which is quite weird but it's good enough.

Takoyaki 4pcs regular around PHP40, with fish flakes around PHP50

Try the one with fish flakes and watch them move :)

ITADAKIMASU!!!

Ingress: It's time to move..

It's been over a year and counting and I'm still hooked in this game. What game you ask? ...

INGRESS!!!
I really like this promotional video. It gives you an idea how it feels to play Ingress. Are you intrigued now? What is Ingress??

Ingress is a GPS based game created by the Niantic Labs within Google. Some may argue that this is not just a game. Watch the beginner's guide to give you a quick peek in the world of Ingress.

According to Google, Ingress is a place or means of access, an entrance. Access to what? Entrance to what? I'd like to think of them as portals where exotic matter leaks into our world. Exotic Matter or XM is an energy form which is the basis of all Shaper technology according to Niantic. It's influence? It's effects? We are not really sure...

Two factions fight to gain control of said portals. The Resistance (my faction) and the Enlightened.

Basically, Ingress is like a world wide game of capture the flag. My friends and I have been playing this game since closed beta. A lot has changed since then. New player levels, badges, new weapons and mods and recently they made it available to iOS users as well. What keeps me hooked?

1. The game play itself is really cool. It makes me feel like a real life agent. So those who have long dreamed of becoming a secret agent, this is your chance to make it come true. It may be a lot to absorb at first but you'll get used to it eventually.
agent ninjamoves (resistance) hacking a portal. (she doesn't know the guard on duty is enlightened XD)

There are already a lot of us out there, so don't be surprised if you hear someone say, 'Hey dude! Come let's attack and destroy that statue!', ask them first if they play Ingress. If not, Please call the police immediately!!!. XD

 2. The places I'm able to visit. The title of this blog says it all. I like going on adventures and road trips. If you do to, then this game is definitely for you.

agent axsyon and cydoki capturing kalayaan tree portal at Malolos, Bulacan.

agent axsyon, cydoki and kurochan at Angeles, Pampanga.

3. The awesome community. Ingress is a group game. Yes you can play the game alone but that would be boring. You can only strengthen your portals with the help of other high level agents. This way you get to meet a lot of people not only locally but also agents from other countries. This is probably the biggest factor why I've been playing this game for a long time now. I get to have new friends :)
Meeting other agents for the first time. Looks like serious business :p

Farming and Tanking sessions at Intramuros, Food Trips at Binondo and late nights (or should I say day breaks?) at BGC. It's not just the game. It's the adventure and the experience.

 First portal I've captured.

Way back when there were just 4 portals in my home town (now there's already 10 I think) and my level bars were still moving :)

And of course BACON!!! If you love bacon, JOIN THE RESISTANCE!!! We are a faction of bacon lovers :)

What you need to play Ingress?
1. a phone or tab with GPS and at least 4 inch screen.
2. a stable data connection.
3. install the Ingress app from play store. It's FREE!
4. JOIN THE RESISTANCE!!!
