Beware of Fake Kylie Birthday Edition Mini Matte Liquid Lipsticks

These are the fake Birthday Edition Kylie Mini Matte Liquid Lipsticks we got from Amazon

They were also sold for $36 in Amazon and we thought it was authentic because it was Sold & Fulfilled by Amazon. But after reading the reviews, we returned them and got a refund.
Comparing the shades of the real and fake Kylie Lipsticks both in the shade of Kristen. On the left is the real KJ Kristen and on the right is the fake mini in Kristen. You can see the fake one is more reddish and it took longer (a lot longer) to dry. The smell is also different. The fake one smells more chocolatey whille the original smells like vanilla.

This is another set of fake mini matte liquid lipsticks from Japan. Here you can see that Dolce K was misspelled as DolceKK.

Swatch of the fakes from Japan. It looks less pigmented than the original ones and again the smell is different.

There are a lot of fakes being sold everywhere even for the full size products. What's alarming is that there are people having allergic reactions to the fake ones because they contain ingredients like glue and Gasoline!!! They are being sold for way cheaper prices than the original so if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

You can buy real ones at KylieCosmetics.com or at their recently opened pop up shop at Westfield Topanga (6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd.) in Canoga Park, CA. You can also buy from local sellers as long as you check the reviews.

Kylie Holiday Edition Mini Matte Liquid Lipstick Swatch

Holiday Edition Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick

It costs $36 at KylieCosmetics.com. Including tax and shipping fee within the US, it would cost around $48 so around PHP2400 for 6 mini matte liquid lipstick. The Kylie Matte Lipkit costs $29 and is being sold here in the Philippines for PHP2000-2500. I bought the Mini Matte Liquid Lipstick for PHP2500 at Shopee so it's pretty much a good deal seeing some sell it for as much as PHP4500. Some sell them individually for PHP600-700. I haven't seen any fake versions of this as of the moment. I can't say the same for the Birthday Edition though.

Anyway, I bought this to try multiple shades for the price of one. I wasn't so lucky in purchasing the Birthday Edition because they sold out in minutes but the Holiday Edition came and I was able to get one from a local seller.

These are the shades included in the set. There are 3 new shades here namely Moon, Angel and Vixen.

Size Comparison
It's mini alright.

Swatch
I already tried Ginger and Kristen and I'm already excited to try the rest.

Kylie Lip Kit Swatch & Review

I recently got to try the Kylie Lip Kit in shade Ginger special thanks to my friend who sold it to me at a much cheaper price otherwise I would still be drooling at KylieCosmetics.com website window shopping for lipsticks.
You can purchase a Kylie Lip Kit at KylieCosmetics for 29USD (excluding taxes and shipping fee) which contains a Lip Liner and a Matte Liquid Lipstick.

The set comes in a white box with the shade shown at the top and sides.

Lip Liner and Liquid Lipstick

Lip Liner and Liquid Lipstick in shade Ginger.
It is matte and smells good like vanilla. It quite resembles the smell of NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream but sweeter.

Shade comparison with other liquid lipsticks. The closest color that I previously own is the NYX Lip Lingerie in shade Exotic but Ginger is more of a brownish shade while Exotic is more of a reddish shade.

after sometime, you can see it really is long lasting

without/with lip liner/with lipliner and lipstick.
(sorry for the picture quality)

Start of Day

End of Day

It does transfer a bit but nothing major.

The Feel
Well it feels like any other liquid lipsticks which can be drying depending on your lip condition. It is drying but it's tolerable. It's not exactly lightweight that I can feel I have something on my lips. It can highlight lip lines like most liquid lipsticks do.

Longevity
It is really long lasting I give it that. I did put Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue which could affect longevity but it still lasted the whole day and didn't budge (though I didn't eat anything oily). I didn't need to re-apply or even retouch because it still looks fine.

The Price
You can buy the lip kit in the Philippines from local re-sellers from about PHP2000-PHP2500. Anything too cheap is probably fake (yes there are a lot of fakes being sold everywhere) so be careful when buying. Only buy from trusted sellers which you can check by reading reviews.

Is it worth it? Would I re-purchase? For me not so much. It is worth it to satisfy my curiosity but I don't see myself purchasing again. Why? Because it is too damn expensive and there are other liquid lipsticks that are just the same with a much much cheaper price tag. Sleek's Matte Me Liquid Lipstick for example. I think they feel pretty much the same and they also have some similar colors for only PHP450. You can also try NYX Lip Lingerie which I really like enough to purchase another shade.

UPDATE: 11/26/2016

My officemates ordered directly from kyliecosmetics.com and I was able to confirm that I bought the real one. It came in a plain black box and it looks like this when opened.

Kristen and Posie K

Left: Posie K
Right: Kristen
I was surprised to see the swatch because I expected Kristen to be more pinkish and Posie K more purplish?

Before and after eating the colors stayed intact except from the inner lips because we ate a lot of oily foods.

Left to Right: Wearing Ginger, Kristen and Posie K. This is the after eating picture by the way.

A closer look at Kristen. It appears darker for some, lighter for some and orangey for some. It really depends on your lip color.

5 Days of Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipsticks

So I was able to get some samples of the new Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipsticks and I'll be trying each shade per day.
SHADES
Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick Swatch
from top to bottom
Always Apricot, Mauve Moment, Poppy Please, Powerful Pink, Crushed Berry

PACKAGING

One of the few things still made in USA.  Anyway, it retails for PHP599 introductory price so get them while still on sale. It's a bit expensive compared to other lipsticks (like Maybelline) but the quality is really good, it's very pigmented, the colors are very flattering and it stays for a long time.

Day 1: Powerful Pink
I have a looooong meeting today so I wanted something empowering. Powerful pink is not a shocking pink as I expected. It's a dark pink it almost looks red..almost.

Day 2: Always Apricot
Dinner Out with Ingress buddies tonight so I want something chill. I love love love this peachy/pink color on me in the shade Always Apricot.

Day 3: Mauve Moment
Thinking glasses on.. work mode Thursday..chos! I also like this shade. It's just a shade deeper than Always Apricot.

Day 4: Crushed Berry
Party Friday! This is the shade I first bought because I have a thing for dark lippies.

Day 5:Poppy Please
Something bright for this gloomy weather. Poppy Please is an orange red (tomato red) color. I don't like this color that much.

In general I love the shades and I love the feel on my lips. I don't know why they call it matte? I don't think it's matte but I like it nonetheless. It's not long wear either you have to re-apply after eating but it will survive a drink or two. The darker shades transfer but not that much.

There are 2 new colors, Midnight Red and Rich Truffle. I'll update this blog once I've tried them. :)

Mary Kay Timewise Liquid Foundation

Mary Kay Timewise Liquid Foundation is one of the best selling products of Mary Kay which retails for PHP785. It comes in 2 variants, Luminous and Matte Wear.

Luminous-Wear is for dry to normal skin which comes in 2 shades, Ivory 5 and Beige 2.
Matte-Wear is for combination to oily skin which comes in 4 shades Ivory 5, Beige 2, Beige 4 and Beige 5.

I got the Matte-Wear in Beige 5 because I have oily skin.
Ingredients and Box Description.
Note: Violet stripe means it's for combination to oily skin.
Pink stripe means it's for dry to normal skin.

Hmmn.. I don't really like the packaging, I guess I squeezed it a bit too hard while trying to open it so it got messy.

Shade Comparison: From Left to Right
L: Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream #27
M: Timewise Matte-Wear Liquid Foundation Beige 5
R: Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation #240 Medium Beige

with flash

I originally use the Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream because I like the idea of skincare and cosmetics rolled up into one. But BB creams are pretty heavy in general and wears off easily in our kind of weather. Although I love the shade so I still use it during cold months.

Then a friend suggested the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation, so I tried it. It is really light  (in terms of the feeling in the skin, in other words you can barely feel you have foundation on) compared to the Missha BB Cream and it has generally good reviews for oily skin like mine. My only complain is that, the darkest shade available here is still very light for my skin. So I still have to use a darker powder when I'm using it.

Then Mary Kay Timewise Liquid Foundation came along. If you've tried Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation and think it's light, Mary Kay Timewise Liquid Foundation is even lighter. It has a matte, powder like finish and the shade was just right for me. It sets quickly though so you have to work fast. I use a buffing brush to blend it in my face.

I used Mary Kay Timewise Liquid Foundation in Beige 5 here. I also used Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in Toffee and Mary Kay Eyeshadow in Sweet Plum for this look. :)
