Dohtonbori: An okonomiyaki experience

Quite a lot of new restaurants have opened at SM North Edsa and I've been eyeing this one when they put up the opening soon tarp.
Dohtonbori is located at the upper ground floor of SM North Edsa.
We were no.21 on the waiting list when we arrived but I wasn't really surprised because of the restaurant's reputation and it was valentines day. Surprisingly though we just waited for less than 15minutes before it was our turn.

The place was like the usual japanese scene.

They also have couches and low table setups.

I decided to treat my mom and my sister for valentines day (more like single's awareness day) so here we are.

THE MENU

They even have instructions on how to cook it properly.

What we ordered

3 rice sets ( rice and miso soup ) PHP 90 each

Pork Yakiniku PHP180

Ramen Shoyu PHP290

Deluxe Okonomiyaki PHP360
Four Cheese Okonomiyaki PHP290

The server prepared and cooked the okonomiyaki for us. Though you can cook it yourself of course.

How to Cook Okonomiyaki
1. Mix the batter well and pour it.
2. Do the Flip
5 minutes on one side then flip
5 minutes on the other side then flip
5 minutes again on the other side and you're done.

3. Put the terriyaki sauce, mayonaise, nori and another powder and tadaa! your okonomiyaki is ready.
Okonomiyaki is basically a flat takoyaki for me :)

Yummy! I loved the four cheese but the deluxe was good too.
We weren't able to finish everything because we're already full. And honestly it's "nakakaumay" (please help translate ahaha) after awhile.
The service was fast and the staff were very attentive filling up your water without the need of telling them. I love the experience and the food and the place. #happykid :)

Tim Ho Wan : SM North Branch

I finally got the chance to try this. I was running late but there was no queue so I ordered some pork buns ( their much raved about product ) and pork ribs rice since I don't think the pork buns will suffice for brunch.
Tim Ho Wan is located at upper ground floor SM North EDSA. They also have a branch at SM Megamall and Glorrieta 3.

The queue is usually long for this establishment luckily not today.

Pork Bun and Pork Ribs Rice

Pork Ribs Rice PHP170
It was good and there's a lot of rice which I wasn't able to finish.

Pork Bun PHP145
I can understand what the rave is all about. I don't usually like meat filled buns like in siopao I only eat the mantao. The crust was heaven. It's crunchy and soft and sweet. I wish they sell the crust separately. XD The filling was just right and  not too overpowering.

I ate them all after eating the pork ribs rice hoho.

I forgot to take a picture of the menu but the price range is around PHP120-200 per order of dumplings and PHP170 for the rice toppings not including service charge. Love love love the pork buns and will be coming back for more. :)

Tama Yaki: Oishi Takoyaki!

Another place in my to-try list is Tama Yaki, located at SM North Edsa near the cinemas beside Cold Stone. They specialize in takoyaki and milk tea. They have some bentos too.

The place is really kawaii. It's a nice spot to hangout and chit chat with friends while eating deliscious takoyaki and sipping tea.

The Menu

We were quite hungry and were looking forward to their rice meals as well but it wasn't available anymore. Most of the teas weren't available too like they don't have riceballs and mochis so that was quite a let down.

But moving on, we ordered 3 takoyaki flavors. 2 seasoned octopus, 1 mussels and cheese and 1 smoked Mackerel.

Out of the 3, I liked mussels and cheese the most and then seasoned octopus but all of them were yummy that I'm craving for it right now. ^_^ I ate 3 takoyaki balls and was already full probably because of the milk tea.

For the milk tea, I tried the macha milk tea with cocoa. I liked it, but if you want a safer choice go for Tama Yaki milk tea with pearl.

It was a fun friday night well spent with friends. I'll certainly go back to try other flavors as well. :)
